City has defeated the Foxes in each of their last two visits to the Etihad. However, it was only in February 2016 that Leicester won 3-1 there en route to that season’s remarkable league title triumph.

Brendan Rodgers has restored some of that fighting spirit since his arrival at the King Power, winning five of his eight matches in charge. The Foxes hammered Arsenal 3-0 in their last outing and can stay in the race for Europa League qualification if they manage to upset the Etihad hosts.

It’s been suggested ex-Liverpool manager Rodgers could relax his efforts in order to help City beat his ex-employers to the crown, but Guardiola has said he isn’t expecting an easy challenge:

“That is not going to happen. The manager and the players want to do a good performance in front of their people.

“The question makes no sense, sorry, forget about it. The Leicester players will not come here for their holidays, maybe they have a chance to finish seventh even if it depends on other results. It is not going to happen, they will try to make a good game.”

The Citizens will move one point in front of Liverpool if they can secure a sixth successive win in all competitions, having yet to lose a home game in 2019 thus far.

Leicester’s away form has turned around following Rodgers’ appointment, going unbeaten in three matches since losing at Watford in their first road fixture after he arrived. Jamie Vardy looks back to his best under the Northern Irishman, too, scoring six times in their last five games.

Kevin De Bruyne will be missing for City’s penultimate match of the campaign due to injury, while Fernandinho and Claudio Bravo are doubts to feature. David Silva, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva look likely to make up Guardiola’s middle three.

Monday’s meeting is a must-win encounter for hosts Man City, who need to hold their nerve for just two more games before securing back-to-back top-tier titles for the first time in their history.
